*The MassBudget FY 2009 - FY2011 budget totals include funds from the ARRA State Fiscal Stabilization Fund. Technically these funds are not part of the budget but in practice they essentially are. They were used mostly to restore budgeted funding that was cut in Higher Education and Chapter 70. MassBudget also makes additional adjustments to all current FY 2011 budget proposals to allow for more accurate comparisons to prior years. These adjustments are noted when data are displayed in the "Search By Line Items and Categories" tool and are described in Appendix A of each of the MassBudget’s FY 2011 Budget Monitors.

Selecting Reports: There are three standard budget reports available through the Budget Browser. These reports are shown in Step 1 of this page and on the Budget Browser Home Page. Each standard report presents different combinations of budgets for display in the results table at the bottom of your screen. To find out which budgets are displayed in each of the standard reports, simply review the list of budgets displayed in the Currently Selected Budgets box or review the column names in the results table at the bottom of your screen.

You may also create a custom report as shown in Step 2. To create a custom report, select budgets you would like to appear in your report by using the Add and Remove buttons, and making sure the budgets you would like to see appear in the Currently Selected Budgets box. You may choose up to 9 budgets to display in your custom results table. Make sure to click on the orange Update Table button to refresh the results table.
Using the Results Table: Display Budget Subcategories: Click the arrow next to a Category Name in the Budget Category column of the table to display budget figures by budget subcategory. Re-click the arrow to hide subcategories.

Comparing Two Versions: The far right column of the results table is reserved for comparing values from two different budgets displayed in your result table. This function simply subtracts one budget from another. To compare two budgets, go to the blue highlighted section above the results table, labeled Compare Two Versions. Select two budgets for comparison by choosing a First Version and Second Version using the drop down list. Click Compare. Your results will appear in the right most column of the table, highlighted in yellow. The values for the budget selected in the First Version drop field will be subtracted from the values for the budget selected in the Second Version field. This function simply computes a difference between the First Version and Second Version budgets you select.
Print the Results Table: Use the Print Table icon in the upper right corner of the screen to print the results table as it currently appears on the page. The print option uses your internet search engine’s print procedure so print quality and formatting depends on what search engine you are using.
Download Results: Click the Download Results icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open or download an MS Excel spreadsheet of the data currently displayed on the page.
