2. Review Line Items For Display:

Highlighted items will be included in results. De-select items you do not wish to include.

Select Line-Items:
Highlight the items in the box below that you want to be included in your results.

Select All Items Clear All Items

3. Select Inflation Adjustment:

No Inflation Adjustment

Inflation Adjusted Using Index for Goods and Services that Consumers Purchase (CPI)

Inflation Adjusted Using Index for Goods and Services that Governments Purchase

Adjusted for Economic Growth: Spending as a Percentage of Total Income Earned in the State

4. Select Budgets:

The Search Line Items and Categories tool allows you to look at state funding over time for individual line items or groups of line items within a budget category or subcategory.sp; Also, you may search line items by budget category, (e.g. Education) from the drop down list in Choose Budget Category, or to narrow your search further, select a budget subcategory (e.g. Early Education and Care) from the drop down list Choose Subcategory.

Step 2: Review Line Items for Display:  Based on the search criteria you selected in Step 1, specific line items will be displayed in the large box labeled Select Line Items.  The line items you select in this step will be included in your data results.  You may select one line item by simply clicking on it.  Once you select a line item, it will be highlighted in blue.  You may select multiple line items by clicking on the first line item and then pressing the “Control” button (or the “Command” button on a Mac) to add additional line items.  If you would like to include all the line items displayed in the Select Line Items box in your results, click Select All Items at the left of the box.  Any line items highlighted in blue will be included in your results.

Step 3: Select an Inflation Adjustment:  Choose an inflation adjustment for your budget data.  This option allows you to look at past and current budgets in more meaningful ways, since the value of a dollar changes over time.  You may choose from one of the following:  No Inflation Adjustment; Inflation Adjusted Using Good and Services that Consumers Purchase (CPI); Inflation Adjusted Using Good and Services that Governments Purchase (IPD); or Adjusted for Economic Growth.  The Budget Browser uses Inflation Adjusted Using Good and Services that Governments Purchase (IPD) as the default inflation adjustment.

Step 4: Select Years:  In this step, enter the range of years from which you would like to see budget data for the line items you selected.

Get your results:  Click the Retrieve Data box to view budget data.
